With the buzz raised by his Pongal release 'Nanban' yet to settle down, Vijay has moved on to his next- 'Thuppakki' which is being directed by A R Murugadoss.

"It will show a different Vijay to my fans," says the Ilayathalapathy.

"Thuppakki will be a big treat to the audience. If the script is like a gun, I am the bullet in it. Such will be the narration and presentation of Murugadoss.

I am excited about the project," Vijay says further.

On the response to 'Nanban', he says, "We all knew that the film would sure become a hit. Shankar's treatment to an already strong script has done wonders.

I am happy to know that my fans are celebrating Nanban at cinema halls."

On whether he would work with Shankar again, Vijay says, "What's wrong if we come together again. In fact, Shankar wanted me to play the lead role in Mudhalvan itself.

But I could not take up the offer then due to various reasons.

Superstar's much-awaited 'Kochadaiyaan' will go on floors on January 19, an auspicious day.

The shooting will commence in the AVM Pillayar temple and scenes featuring the Superstar and his sister played by Sneha will be canned first.

The film is produced and directed by Rajini's daughter, Soundarya Ashwin and will have music by Isai Puyal AR Rahman.

KS Ravikumar is also helping Soundarya with the direction.

A little birdie tells us that Aadhi who is eagerly awaiting his 'Aravaan' will also be seen in a pivotal role in this movie.

Prithviraj is also touted to be seen in an important role in this film.

However an official announcement from the makers listing the cast and crew is expected shortly.

Rajini will be seen in the titular role, as a king who is an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva and one with long tresses.

Brimming with hope that the starting of the year itself has turned out positive for them, the sources add: "Last Pongal the box office was dull and made only average collections. But scenes are straight contrasting this harvest festival.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government exempted Vijay starrer 'Nanban', directed by Shankar, from entertainment tax, after it found that the film was in adherence to the new standards set by the AIADMK regime led by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

As per the new rules, a movie applying for tax exemption should have a 'U' certificate from the Regional Censor Board and should keep within Tamil culture and sensibility. Since the 22-member committee felt 'Nanban' followed all the rules, it recommended the movie fit to be exempted from tax.

This summer film goers will get to see a new something on big screen with the release of 'Naan Ee', a socio-fantasy Tamil-Telugu bilingual with Nani and Samantha in lead and Sudeep as an antagonist.

The film's first look has now been unveiled and true to the title has the 'Ee' (fly) hogging away the limelight in the posters, with an apt tagline that goes 'Buzzing your summer' and 'The flying star takes off this summer'.

Bodyguard Review - Telugu Movie
Bodyguard Review – Bodyguard Telugu Movie Review, Rating, Film Review: Bodyguard was originally made in Malayalam and later it was remade in Tamil, Hindi and Kannada. Now the Telugu remake arrives.

Venkatesh played the lead role and Gopichand Malineni directed it on Bellamkonda Suresh’s banner. Trisha is the heroine.

Story:

Venkatadri (Venkatesh) is a Bodyguard by profession.

He comes to protect Varada Rajulu (Prakash Raj), who has danger from his enemies. Venkatadri has immense respect in Varada Rajulu as he saved him and his family in his childhood.

Venkatadri comes to know that Varada Rajulu’s daughter Keerthi (Trisha) is in danger and he goes along with her to college as her Bodyguard.

Keerthi doesn’t like to have him by her side as her co students are making fun of her. She tries to divert Venkatadri by calling him as an anonymous caller and soon they fall in love with each other. What happens next is to be seen on the screen.

Analysis:

If you have seen either of Bodyguard versions from other languages, you may not be surprised with the final twist.

Also this film is a faithful remake of original and therefore it may not offer anything new for those who have already known the story.

However, Venkatesh makes this film watchable even if you know the story of the film.

For those who didn’t see it in other languages, Bodyguard will impress with solid script. This film proves that a strong script can always impress any despite of cultural differences. Bodyguard was successful in all the languages it was made till now.

Even the Telugu version is a finely packaged family entertainer with a mix of commercial elements.

First half of the film is neat with good humor. Despite being lagged for a while before the interval, it leaves a good impression on you.

Second half doesn’t have scope for much comedy as the drama takes the front seat. There are few touching scenes in this hour. Climax will impress if you don’t know the story.

Performances:

Venkatesh is in his elements as Venkatadri. He did a very good job. Only problem might be his age factor. He is bit old for this character as the love story is the integral part of the movie.

He is fine in comedic sequences and at his best in emotional scenes. He looked the part as tough Bodyguard in action episodes.

Trisha did a wonderful job. She is a fine actress. Saloni’s presence is felt. Prakash Raj is standard. So is Kota Srinivasa Rao. Ali provides some laughs and Venu Madhav is usual. All others did their part.

Technicalities:

Dialogues by Kona Venkat are nice. Music by Thaman is an asset. Three songs are very good. Background score is fine. Editing should have been crispier. Cinematography is neat. Production values are up to the mark.

Direction by Gopichand Malineni is flawless. He is good at making commercial films. He did a fine job in bringing out the best from the actors in emotional scenes.

Final Word:

Bodyguard will appeal to family audience and ladies. It will be definitely liked by people who haven’t seen the film in other languages. It should do well at the box office as it has the right mix of commercial elements for the festive audience.

Linguswamy is one of the very few directors in Tamil cinema who has understood the pulse of the Tamil audience. That’s the reason he could deliver these successful wholesome entertainers. And, ‘Vettai’ is no exception in his line-up of successful movies!

The director has done it yet again with a superb commercial cocktail called ‘Vettai’ with all the right ingredients of an enjoyable entertainer!

‘Vettai’ has a very intense story of two brothers, Thirumurthy and Gurumurthy, who live for each other. The elder brother becomes honest police officer and the younger is a carefree one who is forced to take a different route in his life. The brothers fall in love with two sisters of the same village. The happy story takes a twist and the ‘Vettai’ starts. And, how the happy lives of these four is changed after this is told with high-octane action sequences.

Madhavan as an elder brother and an honest police officer has done a tremendous job and Arya’s has again wonderfully portrayed that happy-go-lucky guy! Sameera Reddy and Amala Paul have also given one of their best performances.

Ashutosh Rana, Nasser and Thambi Ramaiah has also come out with a neat performance.

Credit goes to the director who has etched the characters and cast the right stars.

‘Vettai’ is just a simple one line but the director has made it as a wonderful action based commercial script with romance, comedy and colourful songs to make it a super entertainer.

Yuvan Shankar Raja has scored the music and the songs are one of the pluses of the film. The song ‘Pappapaa…’ had been a rage even before the official music album of the film.

Nirav Shah’s camera work has supported Linguswamy to tell the story what he wanted; especially the action sequences and the colourful songs!

Anthony’s editing is another big work in the film.

Thirupathi Brothers has produced the movie and UTV Motion Pictures has distributed the film.
